Abstract

The present research  tackles the study of The Islamic Carpets in the Depictions of Persian Manuscripts ( Khamsat Nizami as a model). It is  divided into four chapters. The first chapter  explains the problem of the research, its importance and the need for it, determining the most important terms contained therein,  and we talk about the study of Islamic carpets contained in the depictions of Persian manuscripts. First of all, we have to answer some important questions related to the possibility of relying on manuscript illustrations   as the essential source for studying carpets in Persian manuscripts, the most important of which is, do the carpet drawings contained in manuscript illustrations represent the real designs of Iranian carpets?  Was the photographer familiar enough with these designs to implement them accurately in his images?   As for the second chapter, it deals with the  theoretical framework and it contains  two sections. The first  points out the emergence of Islamic carpets in Iran, the decorations executed on Iranian carpets, and the types of Iranian carpets.  The second part mentions  the centers interested in the production of Persian carpets, while the third chapter includes the research procedures, including the research community and the research sample, the research tool and the analysis of the research sample, whereas the fourth chapter is concerned with the results, conclusions, recommendations and suggestions .
