Abstract

Contemporary painting transcends mere visual expression, becoming a multidimensional tual messages.

This study employed a descriptive-analytical method to examine a selected set of artworks to identify the aesthetic value conveyed through contemporary works. The research comprised four chapters: the first chapter addressed the research problem, objectives, significance, necessity, and defined the temporal, spatial, and thematic boundaries. The second chapter included three sections: the first discussed the concept of meaning in the critical field, the second examined the notion of the code—its essence and types, and the third explored aesthetic messages in contemporary global painting, including contemporary artworks. The third chapter presented the research procedures and analysis of selected works focusing on meaning, encoding, and their relation to contemporary paintdialogue that conveys aesthetic, intellectual, social, and cultural messages. Artistic codes are shaped by the artist’s environment, heritage, and personal experiences, resulting in diversity in abstraction, simplification, and innovation. These codes carry multiple meanings, which the viewer may interpret differently, reflecting the artist’s emotions and cultural values. From ancient rock paintings to modern abstract works, encoding allows artists to communicate profound ideas while maintaining an interaction between visual beauty and conceping. Finally, the fourth chapter outlined the results, conclusions, and recommendations.
