Abstract

This article examines the impact of digitization on the transformation of the photographic image and its relationship with contemporary plastic art. Digital technologies are no longer limited to improving the tools of capture and processing; they have also contributed to reshaping the ontological, aesthetic, and semiological dimensions of the image, which has gradually shifted from a documentary practice grounded in referential reality to a visual discourse based on construction, composition, and interpretation. The study adopts a qualitative analytical and semiological approach to investigate how smart cameras, image-processing software, and online publishing platforms have redefined the photographic act. It also explores the emergence of a new visual identity for the digital photographic image, shaped through the interaction of technical and aesthetic dimensions with cultural contexts and modes of reception. The article concludes that the digital photographic image is no longer a transparent visual trace, but a dynamic construction whose aesthetic value lies in its ability to produce meaning within a visual culture saturated with images.
