Abstract

Despite all the transformations that art has undergone through the ages, it remains one of the most important aspects of human activity, which is awareness and contemplation of the process of creation and existence against the ambiguity and might of the universe, a search for the meanings of creation and an expression of man’s eternal desire for immortality. Religion aims to awaken the soul and link it to the universe and its creator so that it rises in the path of human perfection, just as art seeks to promote the human soul and move all the emotions that simmering in its depths. Religion is a gift from the creator of beauty and the giver of existence, and art is the vision of the Absolute who shines through a sensory medium, as the philosopher Haykal says. . (1, p.23)

The current research consists of four chapters. The first chapter of the research includes an introduction to the research problem, its importance and the need for it. As for the aim of the research, it has been defined to define the genealogy of religious discourse and modern art. The researcher analyzed the most important terms mentioned in the research. The second chapter included two topics. The first represents the concept of genology - the genealogical relationship between art, discourse and religion. As for the second topic, it dealt with - the religious dimension in the modern arts movements. As for the third chapter, it contained the research procedures and included, the research community, sample selection and analysis, which amount to (7) models. The research adopted the descriptive and analytical approach in analyzing the sample. The fourth chapter came with the results of the research and conclusions as well as recommendations and suggestions. Among the most prominent findings of the researcher is

  1. The authority of the Christian religious discourse and its narrative themes dominate in the samples of the research sample. On the basis of the motives for renewal of the currents of modernity and the experiences of its artists.
  2. Religious discourse, throughout long periods of European history, was based on a metaphysical structure, which caused an intellectual shift to the nature of social concepts and transformations.
